Rayven Web Designs

Hello...I'm Rayven...aka Ray Hamilton. I've been designing web pages for a number of years now, but moreso at work! "At work" means at Electric Boat Corporation, where ALL of the work I've done for them resides behind a fairly impregnable firewall. It's fine stuff...if you're willin' to take my word for that!!! But that's hardly necessary...please read on.

I have a couple of recent examples out here...not the least of which is my own compilation of personal pages at "Rayven's Page". Now I have to admit these are not the best examples of commercially viable pages since the first, at least, and a couple of others...like the "My Service/Professional Background"...are extremely graphics heavy. This is, admittedly, nothing more than ego...BUT...I still think they're worth the wait...and they do NOT mean I don't know better!!! Also, for layout and poetic content, I proffer our annual Christmas pages! We're back...and 2004's pictures are mounted!!!

I help build other's sites...in the capacity of consultant...since I'd rather abide by that old axiom, "Give a man a fish, and feed him for today, but teach a man to fish, and feed him for forever!" I don't do this solely for the "keyboarding", after all!

As for actual external site design, I designed a set of pages for "Wyldwood", a group I used to co-host a wonderful "Blues Jam" with at the Bank Street Cafe! They, however, are now defunct...and have spread broad and wide!!! Should I find out any further involvements, I'll let ya know as I find out!!!

I've developed pages forThe Bank Street Cafe!!! It's a terrific little place with a very unique and interesting decor plus some of the finest entertainment in the area on Friday and Saturday! You may also find Karaoke, open-mike JAMS, and there's always a GRRRRRRRREAT jukebox, Big Screen TV for all the special events, two pool tables, 5 TV's at the bar, dart boards, a great grill, various drink specials, and a genuinely nice crowd that reflects everything from "chaps to suits"...and all types in between!!! Jeff and Linda Mullen would love to have you stop in and get comfortable with the place. Also, check out the new site for Action Amusements & Vending Co., another of their ventures. They offer a wide variety of party rentals, including dunk tanks, moonwalks, pool tables, jukeboxes, video games, and such. They also run the arcade and "Mullenville Raceway" at Ocean Beach, and sponsor a number of related events there like antique car shows and such. That site will also offer news regarding these events and other happenings of interest!!!

Another project, which REALLY excited me as much for the people involved as for the professional opportunity, was "UNDERTOW"!!! This was a relatively new band, and I was mostly involved in doing their posters as they started out. They had a terrific repertoire which includes a broad variety from Stone Temple Pilot and Rage Against the Machine to Old Rock 'n' Blues...Stevie Ray Vaughn...ZZTop...and a rendition of "All Along the Watchtower" that, while really different, would make Jimi weep to hear it!!! And they were ALL TEENAGERS!!!!!!!!!!!! And we're NOT just talkin' their repertoire was cool...their delivery was MAJOR ENVIABLE...and I've also been a musician for well over 40 years! PLUS...they released their debut CD, "UNDERTOW", with 7 very fine originals that diversely showcase a multitude of classic influences certain to entertain everyone!!! Unfortunately, they're off to college and now also defunct, but only in that format. Keep an eye out...I'm hopin' they'll be back, and I'll certainly be updating this paragraph if and when they are!!!

My latest up-and-coming musician is a young country vocalist who's driven and it shows. She's won numerous awards and the recognition of many in the business, not to mention a strong and loyal fan base who provide her with a dependable following wherever she shows up!!! I am most proud to introduce STEPHANIE EISLEY!!! Look for her...if you're a fan of current country...or just enjoy any fresh, pure talent when you hear it...you're gonna love this girl! She's been listed regularly at the Mohegan Sun.

Also...check out Ocean Beach Park's site...it tells you what the park has to offer...in I-Like-The-Place-Myself detail!!! Although this is one of those sites which I no longer maintain, it is still compised, largely, of my original copy, layout work, and background graphics.

And...for the most recent feather in my portfolio...make sure you visit FORT FRIENDS...another NEW site...it tells you what both Forts Trumbull and Griswold have to offer. Both forts are Connecticut State Parks with a whole lotta local history to offer to the interested, and in more than just dry museum presentation. Re-enactments and other kinds of live performance bring the history right into your today! And, this year, both forts will be co-hosting a very special 225th Anniversary Re-enactment of the Burning of New London and the Battle of Groton Heights...a very historic and significant contribution, of heroic proportion, to both local and national history!

I really want to make some kind of inroads in the web-design business, but I also want the latitude to continue learning and to keep my customers on the cutting edge as far as internet advertising/marketing goes! This requires the ability, at least part time, to continue to experiment and learn. I'm of the opinion that, if you want a web page, fine. If, however, you ever expect it to be "DONE"...if your expectations are "STATIC"...then publish a brochure!

And...I'll do that for you, too! Or Business Cards, Menus, Flyers, and a wide array of other products that depend on layout expertise for their appeal! My background is that of a Technical Writer/Editor for the last 19 years; I've made a fine reputation for myself grounded in two basic qualities: I'm consistently creative...even within the sometimes restrictive confines of the Technical Writing field...and...I have a good, trained eye, coupled with a firm background in language. I am able to spot typos, the wrong number of the verb for the subject, grammatical errors, etc...all the things you may have become disenchanted with on most of the sites out there today! I am an absolute neurotic about this issue...in fact, I'm almost completely incapable of missing such errors, they so irk me! I GUARANTEE you'll be satisfied with my efforts on your behalf, or the rework will be ashamedly and completely on the house!!!
