As for my usual poem, this ol’ war
has me some preoccupied, I’m afraid. Never before have I felt so close to it…or
have those in the midst of it felt so close! It is a less-than-cheery focus,
admittedly… but unshakable nonetheless.
So, during this time of giving, let’s remember to give the best
we have to offer…a prayer for His loving care…a prayer for strength…for those
who have foregone comfort on our behalf…for whom strength is no longer an
option!

I find amid the gladness that I feel
this time…this year…
A special kind of sadness…a catch…a wee small tear…
And even the anxiety…of some shadowy,
unspoken fear…
For I have Friends-in-Arms over there!
Again we find ourselves in time of war…
And it’s less clear, this time, what
it’s all for…
More so, to some, who always seem to
want to be told more…
For me, it only matters “THEY SERVE…WE
CARE!!!”
So I’ll compose my message to be
apolitical…
And leave the “haute cliché” to the more
rhetorical…
That way I can avoid the need for being
critical…
I, basically, don’t want…here…a reason
to “Go There”!!!
But
adversity is something we must sometimes just abide…
And our trepidation’s tamed in being
tempered by our pride…
Okay…just one cliché…I so feel “God is
on our side!!!”
And the one thing I can contribute is
this prayer:
Father, watch over and protect the
endangered, shore up the weak, inform the confused, and reward the stalwart.
In Christ’s name, Your will be done!
